Hướng dẫn What Is the Role of the OIG in Sanction Checks?

OIG, which controls list searches, is responsible for keeping up with the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE). This compilation contains individuals and entities that have been excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and other Federal health care programs. As an Investigative agency, the OIG is to identify parties that have been involved in health care fraud and abuse.

Sanction checks, employers-especially those in the healthcare industry-are required to regularly verify that their employees, contractors, and vendors are not on the OIG's exclusions list. Failure to comply with this requirement could cause severe financial and legal penalties, such as civil sanctions and disqualification from the program.

So the OIG is not only a force for compliance with exclusions but also acts as a vital source for companies to confirm the eligibility of applicants and ensure the integrity of their healthcare operations. The oversight of the agency helps ensure that only trusted providers are allowed to participate in government-funded programs, safeguarding both the public purse and patient safety.
